Scholarship Funds at the First Community Foundation of Pennsylvania

The First Community Foundation of Pennsylvania and its affiliates administer scholarship funds that provide scholarships to approximately seventy-five students each year. Each scholarship has specific criteria, and the Foundation honors donor intentions in making scholarship awards from these funds.

The PHEAA PATH Program

Helps Donor Dollars Go Further
The Foundation is a participant in the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) Partnerships for Access to Higher Education (PATH) Program. The PATH Program provides match grant awards to qualified recipients of scholarships that are managed by the Foundation. To receive match grant awards, students must meet the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in a Pennsylvania postsecondary institution
  • Have unmet financial need as determined by PHEAA and the post-secondary institution
  • Be state grant recipients
  • Have demonstrated self-help by applying for a Federal Student Loan

Applying for Scholarships:

  • The deadlines have passed for all scholarships to be awarded in 2008.
  • Please check back for updated scholarship applications for 2009.

Lycoming County Schools

All Lycoming County Schools

  • B-BRAVE McMahon/Stratton Scholarship Fund - Graduating senior from any Lycoming County or Clinton County high school who has been in the foster care system, or who has legal adopted status, and who has shown remarkable achievement in spite of obstacles in life
  • Dr. Joseph R. Calder Memorial Scholarship Fund - Current and/or aspiring Lycoming County medical professional accepted full or part-time into a medical program, including medicine, nursing, pharmacy, allied health, or any other related specialty at an accredited institution of higher education
  •  Warren E. "Whitey" Cole A.S.H.E. Scholarship Fund - Enrolled in civil engineering, civil engineering technology, or civil technology curriculum, completed at least sophomore year of a four-year curriculum, or completed at least freshman year of a two-year curriculum, must be enrolled at Pennsylvania State University, Pennsylvania College of Technology, or have residence in Bradford, Columbia, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Snyder, Sullivan, Tioga, or Union County and attend another college
  • Morton Harrison Scholarship Fund- Young adult who as a result of legal offense as juvenile or young adult, has come to the attention of Lycoming County's Probation Department, strong willingness to make positive changes in life and pursue educational and/or job training goals that will enable fulfillment of human potential, demonstrated strong likelihood of success in meeting education or training goals
  • ISCALC International Scholarship Fund - Any high school senior in Lycoming County who plans to pursue major coursework in the area of international studies, including, but not limited to international affairs, foreign languages, oversees exchange programs, multicultural studies and related areas      
  • Albert and Alice Nacinovich Music Scholarship Fund - Graduating high school seniors from any Lycoming County high school, public or private, or part of a qualified home-school arrangement within Lycoming County, with grade point average of 80 or higher, accepted in a degree-granting program in music education or a music-related field of study                                                          

Jersey Shore Area Senior High School

  • Lindsay M. Entz Memorial Scholarship Fund - Jersey Shore High School senior planning a course of study in elementary education, preferably with an emphasis on education of special needs children

Loyalsock Township High School

  • Dr. Wayne F. Rose Scholarship Fund - Pursuing a career in education, demonstrates interest in working with children, exhibits an appreciation for the arts, demonstrates family financial need

Montgomery Area High School

  • Carl and Lucille Jarrett Scholarship Fund - Good citizenship, honesty and integrity, ability to succeed demonstrated through job or volunteer history, self-motivated and ethical
  • Robert E. and Judy More Scholarship Fund - Pursuing higher education in the areas of finance, engineering, business or science, exhibited leadership qualities, academic excellence, and a cooperative spirit

Montoursville Area High School

  • Ruth D. Adams Fund - Financial need, with preference given to those who would not otherwise be able to pursue a higher education by any other means, enrolled in a course of study which leads to a degree
  • Jessica L. Aikey Memorial Fund - Strength, character, compassion
  • Anne "Annie" L. Alexander and Blaise Robert "B.R." Alexander Memorial Scholarship Fund - Financial need, good citizenship, community involvement, leadership, sense of humor, grounded, tolerance of others, honesty, integrity, and has made a difference in the school community
  • Michelle E. Bohlin Memorial Fund - Pursuing a career in foreign languages or social science
  • Jordan M. Bower Memorial Scholarship Fund - Demonstrated interest in track, leadership abilities
  • Monica E. Cox Memorial Fund - Excel in languages, art or English, exhibit tendencies towards humanitarian endeavors, active in social and ecological issues
  • Deborah Ann Dickey Memorial Scholarship Fund - Demonstrated interest in French and other language
  • Douglas Dickey Memorial Scholarship Fund - Demonstrated interest in business
  • Carol A. Fry Memorial Scholarship Fund - Demonstrated interest in nursing or related field
  • Julia D. Grimm Memorial Fund - Majoring in marine biology
  • C. LaRue Hunter Memorial Sports Fund - One male and one female senior, participation in a team sport, demonstrated exemplary sportsmanship
  • Jody Lea Loudenslager Memorial Scholarship Fund - Female, demonstrated interest in cross country or track
  • Cheryl L. Nibert Memorial Fund - Leadership traits, academic proficiency, respect for others, kind and caring nature
  • Kimberly Marie Rogers Memorial Scholarship Fund - Strong scholastic achievement, demonstrated interest in attending a vocational/technical college
  • Judy K. Rupert Memorial Scholarship Fund - Exemplifies the qualities of school spirit, love of life, and sincere concern for others
  • 'Tis A Scholarship Fund - Current member(s) of concert or marching band
  • Larissa Michele Uzupis Memorial Scholarship Fund - Strong scholastic achievement, demonstrated interest in computer science or math
  • Monica M. Weaver Memorial Fund - Female, high scholastic standing, majoring in physical therapy (or, if this cannot be met, major in occupational therapy, nursing or other related health care profession)
  • Eleanor M. Wolfson Memorial Scholarship Fund - Attend Yale College
  • Wendy Y. Wolfson Memorial Scholarship Fund - Attend Yale College

Muncy Senior High School

  • Fannie Rachel Wood Brown Fund -Demonstrated continued growth in citizenship, ethical and moral character, and determination to succeed, attend Muncy High School from freshman year through senior year
  • Muncy Alumni Wrestling Scholarship Fund - Attend Muncy Jr./Sr. High School for at least two years, attained at least two varsity letters in the sport of wrestling
  • Muncy Rotary Club Scholarship Fund - Graduating student from Muncy High School, community involvement, strong potential for success
  • Muncy Scholars Award Fund - Attend Muncy High School from freshman year through senior year, selected from top ten academic performers, attained at least one varsity letter (either sports or band), exhibits continued growth in citizenship, leadership, honesty and integrity
  • H. Porter Rathmell Scholarship Trust Fund - Muncy High School student pursuing higher education
  • Waldron Memorial Trust Scholarships - Upper 1/5 of class for junior and senior years

South Williamsport Senior High School

  • Nolan W. Feeser Scholarship Fund - One male and one female, unmet financial need, academic achievement, preference to students enrolled at Lycoming College, Gettysburg College, or Pennsylvania College of Technology
  • The Jane Salansky-Onzik Scholarship Fund - Studying secondary education (preferably to teach Spanish), good citizenship, community involvement, unmet financial need, is not recipient of other awards
  • John A. Savoy Scholarship Fund - Good citizenship, community involvement, unmet financial need, is not recipient of other awards

Williamsport Area High School

  • Tom Vargo Scholarship Fund - Exemplifies spirit of teamwork and dedication in the area of sports
  • Williamsport High School Class of 1970 Scholarship Fund - Attend a college, university, or vocational school that offers at least a two (2) year degree or certification program, must be in need of financial assistance, shall not have received any other scholarship totaling more than $250, not necessarily the most outstanding scholar nor the most sensational athlete, but rather has worked diligently to master academic courses, has earned the respect of teachers and fellow students because the applicant possesses unquestionable integrity, and consistently displays compassion for and kindness to others

Canton Area High School

  • Marion Jones Donaldson Scholarship Fund - Pursuing major coursework in the area of elementary or secondary education, four-year, overall minimum grade average of 85%

All Clinton County Schools

Danville High School 

  • Ken and Pat Ackerman Family Scholarship Fund - Varsity wrestler and/or varsity football player who has the highest accumulative four-year average in English

  • Bloch-Selinger Educational Fund - One male and one female honor student
  • Diane Booth Memorial Scholarship Fund - Good citizenship and community involvement, achieves academically to fullest potential, has unmet financial need
  • Cotner Family Scholarship Fund - Pursuing studies in agriculture or agricultural related fields, exhibits good citizenship, leadership, honesty and integrity
  • Danville Rotary Scholarship Fund - Good citizenship, honesty and integrity, volunteers with the community and/or charity(ies), demonstrates Rotary’s motto of “Service Above Self”
  • Mollie H. Harter Scholarship Fund - Interest in a career in education, ideally secondary education, or alternatively, other careers working with children, experience with community service and volunteering
  • Jane Hood Memorial Fund - One scholarship will be awarded to a student majoring in math or science, including engineering (preference given to math), and one scholarship will be awarded to a student majoring in graphic/visual arts, good citizenship and community involvement required for both awards
  • The Gerald J. Levandoski Memorial Scholarship Fund - Pursuing an education in engineering or science (preferably engineering), exhibits good citizenship and community involvement
  • Carl J. Marrara Memorial Scholarship Fund - Good citizenship, community involvement, leadership with a sense of humor, grounded, tolerant, honest, has integrity, and has made a difference in the school community
  • Walter A. "Whitey" and Nan C. McCloskey Memorial Scholarship Fund - Attained a boys’ or girls’ letter in basketball, good school and community citizen, preference given to a student with financial need
  • The Rechsteiner Family Scholarship Fund - One male and one female student, one award to a student majoring in education, one award to a student majoring in science, both awards require good citizenship and community involvement

Sullivan County High School

  • Arey Family Scholarship Fund - Pursuing an education in the field of agriculture (or, if no candidates pursuing agriculture, then natural resource management or environmental education), must have a C+ average or higher, child or step-child of persons actively involved in a career of farming in Sullivan County, PA
  • L. L. Baumunk & Son, Inc. Scholarship Fund - At least a B average, overall, for all high school coursework, interest in forestry, environmental sciences, or business management
  • Missigman Scholarship Fund - Demonstrated potential to succeed in pursuing higher education objectives, consideration given to financial need

Milton High School

  • Gina Barnhart Memorial Scholarship Fund - Major in elementary education (or, if no candidates in elementary education, secondary education), preference to those whose educational and/or career objectives focus on working with children or community service

Mount Carmel High School

  • Anne "Annie" L. Alexander and Blaise Robert "B.R." Alexander Memorial Scholarship Fund - Financial need, good citizenship, community involvement, leadership, sense of humor, grounded, tolerance of others, honesty, integrity, and has made a difference in the school community

Warrior Run High School

  • Ralph and Josephine Smith Fund Scholarships - Two females and two males, financial need

  • Joseph and Catherine Missigman Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund - Completing second or third year's curricula in the nursing education program, GPA of 2.5 or greater for all nursing coursework, demonstrated financial need, commitment to nursing profession, desire to serve people in need

  • Daniel G. Fultz & Helen I. Fultz Scholarship Fund - Graduating senior at Indian Valley High School (if no applicants from Indian Valley, then a graduating senior from Lewistown High School), accepted at Lycoming College

Pennsylvania College of Technology

  • Benjamin Franklin Trust Fund - Demonstrated past enrollment in an approved tech prep high school program, or, in schools without an approved tech prep program, enrollment in a high school vocational-technical program, grade point average of "B" or higher, must be enrolled in Certificate, Associate or Bachelor's Degree program full-time, preference given to continuing students in subsequent years if a cumulative GPA of 2.80 is maintained in the program
