FCFP Grants $260,000 From The Lycoming County Disaster Relief Fund
WILLIAMSPORT, PA – The First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania (FCFP) is proud to grant $264,725 to eleven nonprofit organizations through its newly created Lycoming County Disaster Relief Fund. The Lycoming County Disaster Relief Fund was established in response to the widespread flooding in Lycoming County as the result of Tropical Storm Lee on September 7 and 8, 2011. In response to donor interest, the Community Foundation created the Fund to have an immediate impact on the local areas damaged by flooding as they begin the process of rebuilding their communities.
FCFP received requests for funding totaling $555,310. The Community Foundation utilized eight members of the regional community to form a grant panel to review all applications. After careful consideration of each application, FCFP is proud to announce the following grants from the Lycoming County Disaster Relief Fund:
The American Red Cross Northcentral PA Chapter- $6,765 to replenish the basic needs for their shelter manager and health kits.
The American Rescue Workers, Inc.- $10,000 to provide assistance to flood victims with basic needs, household furnishings and rental assistance.
Christian Life Fellowship- $3,000 to replace the Church water well.
Clinton County CleanScapes- $8,726 to provide on-going cleanup efforts to safely remove man made debris from public lands and waterways.
Community of Volunteers of Our Lady of Lourdes- $32,613 to assist with water heater replacement and home furnishings for flood victims.
Jersey Shore Area YMCA- $2,000 to renovate and replace items damaged in the lobby, locker rooms, maintenance office and childcare space during the recent flooding.
Muncy Area Volunteer Fire Company- $16,394 to replace aging and inadequate portable pumps used by the Fire Company.
Picture Rocks Volunteer Fire Company- $15,000 to purchase of a new generator for the Fire Company.
STEP - Lycoming-Clinton Counties Commission for Community Action- $114,614 to provide gap funding necessary to access temporary housing and assist with water heater replacement and basement rehabilitation.
United Churches of Lycoming County- $52,613 to provide long-term assistance to flood victims who do not have adequate personal resources for basic needs.
Veterans Memorial Park of Picture Rocks- $3,000 to repair to the brick walkways, gardens and landscaping at the Veterans Memorial Park in Picture Rocks.
