About Grants from the Joel G. Garrison Trust Fund at your Community Foundation:
Through the power of endowed funding, meaning that it is the investment earnings from a gift made in 1942 that make this funding possible, Mr. Joel G. Garrison's legacy lives on, making a difference in the lives of children each August.  
Grants from the Joel G. Garrison Trust Fund are made possible by the foresight, generosity and compassion of Mr. Garrison, and his desire to ensure that children in the City of Williamsport would have a day in which they could enjoy entertainment and refreshment.  Mr. Garrison was remembered as a kind man, who took joy out of helping children in need.  A veteran of the Spanish-American War, Joel Garrison chose to designate August 13, a date that corresponds with the end of the war in 1898, as the day in which children would benefit from his gift to the community.  

Grant funding from the Joel G. Garrison Trust Fund is provided by a bequest from Joel Garrison, who left his gift with the intent of providing a Children's Day at Memorial Park in the City of Williamsport on August 13 each year.  He designated grants from this fund to provide enrichment and refreshment to the children who attend and to their escorts, or those who accompany them.

Grant requests should take into consideration the amount the Joel G. Garrison Trust Fund has available to award for Children's Day.  Funding available for an August 2008 Children's Day is $3,500.

Funding Request Process:  
* The grant application can be found on our website at www.fcfpa.org.  
* Applicants must be qualified to receive tax-exempt contributions as defined by the IRS-in the vast majority of cases, applicants will be 501(c)(3) organizations.
* Applicants without 501(c)(3) status may work through another qualified 501(c)(3) organization that is willing to serve as a Fiscal Sponsor for the applicant (Fiscal Sponsor form located on the following page).
* All applicants must submit 1 original and 7 complete copies of the application and all attachments.  

Deadline:  
* All applications must be postmarked by Tuesday, April 15, 2008 to be considered.  No walk-ins or drop-offs will be accepted.

			(  Include your organization's name on every page.
			(  Provide materials in the order requested with the appropriate headings.
(  Use only clips for the application-do not staple, bind, or use notebooks or folders.

Using no more than 4 single-sided pages, the following items must be addressed:
1. A description of the proposed Children's Day activities and how they relate to your organization's mission.  
2. A list of the key staff, board members, consultants and service providers involved in the program.  Briefly describe their roles.
3. Identify external support from the community, if any.  Include any in-kind support related to this application.
4. A description of how the program will be announced to the community.
5. Evidence that the program will be evaluated and measurable outcomes will be set.
