Use of the Park
Trail Conditions
Currently the Park has over 15 miles of trails open to hiking, bird watching, dog walking and trail running. Safety is advised, as trails can be slippery.

Park Hours
The Park is open dawn to dusk daily.
Parking
There is a parking lot at the end of the entrance road for your use. This is the Park’s designated parking area. Please do not block gates.
User Guidelines – Rules – Prohibitions
Recreational use of the Park is limited to activities that blend in with its natural beauty and serenity. Visitors are expected to honor the rules for recreational use designed to protect the Park, ensure user safety and promote an enjoyable experience.
- Hours – Park is open from dawn to dusk.
- Parking is only permitted in designated parking areas. Please do not block gates.
- Cars and motorized vehicles are restricted to the main access road and parking area. Motorized vehicles are permitted on other designated access roads only with the approval of the Rider Park Manager.
- Prohibited on the Park property, access roads and parking area are:
• ATV’s, snowmobiles or motorized recreational vehicles
• Motorcycles, except in permitted parking areas
• Trailers
• Horses
• Hunting, firearms or other weapons
• Possession or use of alcoholic beverages or controlled substances
• Cutting of trees or removal of vegetation
• Overnight camping
• Bicycles during posted periods
• Open fires - Recreational use shall be confined to existing Park roads, trails and paths to the greatest extent possible.
- Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times.
- Bicycle riders are required to wear a helmet, yield to hikers on the trail and protect trails from damage - avoid wet or muddy areas and skidding.
- Park users will observe a strict “carry in – carry out” policy. No trash receptacles are provided.
- Group functions require approval of the Rider Park Manager. Proof of valid liability insurance coverage may be required.
The First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania reserves the right to relocate or limit recreational use in order to accomplish the management goals of the park.
Trails
Rider Park has fifteen miles of major and secondary trails for your enjoyment. The trails on Rider Park also access additional trails on the Loyalsock State Forest located north of the Park. Trails can be used for hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, trail running, bird watching and snow shoeing.
The major trails at Rider Park are:
- Cheryl’s Trail ---------------------- 3.6 miles ---------- vertical rise 560 feet
- Katy Jane Trail ------------------- 2.6 miles ---------- vertical rise 460 feet
- Saddle Trail ----------------------- 0.4 mile ----------- vertical rise 193 feet
- Francis X. Kennedy Trail ------ 0.5 mile ------------ vertical rise 252 feet
When travelling the Park you can link these trails together for a longer trip. There are also three vistas with scenic views. They are Doe Pen, Katy Jane East, and Katy Jane South.
