Professional Advisors

Professional advisors are the First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania’s valued partners. They are indispensable channels between the Community Foundation and individuals who realize the time has come to make philanthropic decisions. The Door Opener Society was created in 2009 to honor the professionals who have helped clients achieve their charitable objectives through the Community Foundation.

In 2010, attorney Robert L. Marks Sr., was named Danville Area Community Foundation’s first Door Opener Society member. Mr. Marks works with his clients to maximize the effectiveness of their philanthropic dollars to ensure lasting change in the community. “I explain that a community foundation is a mechanism to set up gifts in perpetuity, rather than giving outright to a charity,” he says. Mr. Marks tells his clients that giving through the community foundation ensures the charity receives income over many, many years.

Robert Marks is deeply committed to the Danville area. He understands the importance of giving back to the community that has given much to his family over many generations. A gift to the DACF, he believes, is an effective way to give back and ensure positive change in the community. “Whether people choose to support the rec center, the Thomas Beaver Library or the historical society or give to a scholarship fund or to the unrestricted fund, this is a way to leave a legacy in Danville,” he says.
